Dyslexia is a specific learning disability in reading. Kids with dyslexia have trouble reading accurately and fluently. They may also have trouble with reading comprehension, spelling and writing.

This is a typical problem. If you are dyslexic then you’ll have tendency to skip over small words because they have no concrete meaning for you. The small words would cause confusion for you and that in turn would cause you to become disoriented – and the disorientation is what causes you perceptions to go awry so you are misreading words and seeing letters out of order or missing them entirely.

The main way to know is to be tested by a neuropsychologist. There are signs of dyslexia, but you definitely won’t know until you get tested. Many people also make the mistake of accepting an evaluation from someone at their public school, and that is NOT the way to correctly know the correct diagnosis. In fact, that is how many learning different students are misdiagnosed! Luckily, there are some neuropsychologists already listed on this website under the testing center tab at the top. However, there is not a listing for each state and area. That’s where we need the users to add more testing centers/ neuropsychologists through their accounts.
